On June 8 one of the Circuit edition GR Corolla models bursted to flames. Owner reported dash starting to show weird warnings and then first sign of smoke was noticed in the cabin. Next thing you know: engine bay was on fire.

The car was still in stock form, no modifications reported and it’s still unclear what was the fault for the fire to erupt. There’s even dash cam showing this wild experience, none of us would like to encounter. Right now the only rumor floats around about excess fuel from a potential fault was bypassing the cylinder and combusting in the turbo. For now owners still in the talks with Toyota officials about warranty coverage, but that’s not an easy task.

How long fire department took to arrive?

As far as owner reported fire department team arrived around 7 minutes later. That is a good time and the location has a lot to do with it. Image if the fire department would take 15 or 25 minutes to arrive – that’s a total loss of vehicle. Not just burned down front end!
